The Requirement : Future proofing a small house on a sloping block via the installation of a residential lift.

The Brief : The house is too small for an internal lift so an external structure is required. There is potential to use the opportunity to improve the amenity of the house.

The Outcome : The design that Yukari presented to me was immediately very exciting. It was obvious the aesthetic would enhance the existing building and I am beyond happy with the street aspect as well as the much improved amenity. It includes a North East facing deck to take full advantage of morning sun and an expansive water view. This deck now links with the original NW facing deck with a view of Kunanyi/Mount Wellington. The result is an expanded usability of the outside area throughout the day and the year. The lift well sits on the corner of the decks and is enhanced by the reflection of the water in the door. Visitors comment that it is like having an extra room and I agree. The carport extends from this deck and as well as opening up the car space to include more gardens it offers much improved shelter.

I would not hesitate to recommend Yukari's design skills. The building work is now complete and the design has greatly enhanced my lifestyle
